The Shoreham Centre

Welcome to The Shoreham Centre!

We want to support you and your children as they grow in their relationship with God. Keep updated with Emmanuel Kids below.

Here’s what we learnt at Emmanuel Kids today.

  • This week is the final week of our The Bible tells us Series.

The children learnt that the Bible tells us that we can tell others about Jesus.

They heard the story of Paul and his many journeys telling people about Jesus. You can find it in Acts 13-14.

  • Today is the final week of our series called Escape From Egypt where the children have been learning the first part of the story of Moses.

    The Final Hurdle.

Big Point - Jesus rescued us so that we can have a relationship with God and be close to him always.

Key Bible Verse Matthew 28:20 “Teach them to obey everything that I have told you. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of the world.”

Story Exodus 14 Crossing the Red Sea.

Overview. The Israelites faced their first challenge at the Red Sea. There was no easy way to cross the Red Sea with so many people, and their situation became desperate when they turned and saw that Pharaoh’s army was coming after them!

Then God steps in, sweeps the waters of the sea to the left and right, and provides them with a miraculous escape. It was a message to them, and to us, a reminder that God will always take care of His people.

God wants us to have faith like the Israelites. He wants us to trust and follow the path He has chosen for us, knowing that no matter what happens, God is in control and He will help us and protect us. He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. He knows the challenges that will lay ahead and He will guide and help us through each one as we put our trust in Him and allow Him to lead us.

We want the children to learn that whatever we face Jesus is with us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Curriculum Overview

  • God’s Wonderful Book

During these 12 weeks we take the children on a journey through the Bible, giving them a snapshot of different stories and people along the way.

We want them to know that the Bible is God breathed - it is his words to us - everything in it he wants us to know.

We want them to know that the Bible is as relevant to us today as it was to those thousands of years before us.

The Bible is our guide - our handbook that helps us to get to know God more, that shows us the best way to live and also is a means to which God can speak to us specifically.

  • Escape From Egypt

The first part of the story of Moses is one of the most familiar stories in the Bible. It’s a story about God leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt through him.

To save baby Moses, his mother set him adrift in a basket on the Nile, where the Pharaoh's daughter found and raised him as a prince.

Moses went into exile in the land of Midian after fleeing Egypt to escape Pharaoh's wrath for killing an Egyptian.

He lived there for about 40 years, working as a shepherd, where he met his wife Zipporah, had sons, and later encountered God in a burning bush, where God spoke to him and asked him to free his people.

Moses returned to Egypt, and after a series of plagues, Pharaoh finally let the Israelites go.

But then he changed his mind and came racing after them just as they faced the Red Sea. God. God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites to walk through on dry land and protected them from the Pharaoh and the Egyptian Army.

Through it all  God's Continued Presence –  the Pillar of Cloud and Pillar of Fire stayed with them, showing that God was always with them, guiding and protecting them every step of the way.

In this 8 week series we take the children through the story using an Escape Room theme to help them find the clues to unlock the story.

As they do they will learn more about God and his love and unstoppable power which He demonstrates to protect and care for His children.

Even though we don’t have a pillar of cloud or fire to follow, God still guides and protects us, by the power of the Holy Spirit. But rather than being in front of us, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savour the Holy Spirit lives in us. So that whatever we face Jesus is with us. He hasn’t left us to try and get on with life on our own.

He rescued us so that we can have a relationship with God and be close to him always.

In the Kids Work the Escape Room happens live. But if your child misses it, then there is an extended video which includes the Escape Room part for you to enjoy at home.
